“We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand ” (Ephesians 6:12-13}
Every day on the news we hear bad reports of murders; robberies, infestation of drugs, wars, family disputes, unfairness in the workforce, and other evil actions being done in this world. It’s is heartbreaking, to say the least!

The reason for all the evils is found in Ephesians 6:12. When we are in confrontation with another individual, our immediate instinct is to fight back. Doing these actions will eventually produce bitterness in our hearts, which if not dealt with, will turn into an unforgiving spirit toward that person. When we fight back, reducing ourselves to a low level, we are fighting the wrong culprit. The culprit we want to fight is the “demon spirit” lurking behind that person! Satan does a good job using individuals against each other. John 10:10 tells us that Satan comes to “steal, kill, and to destroy” from God’s children. He wants to steal, kill or destroy:
- Our relationship with Father God.
- Our family structure and unity.
- Our children.
- The Word of God from our hearts and minds.
- Our hopes and dreams.
- Our peace of mind.
- Our health.
- Our unity in the Church.
Satan wants to keeps us distracted with things that are designed to keep us from spending quality time with Father God. He will use people or things to keep us distracted, discouraged or disappointed.
Our weapons to defeat Satan is found in Ephesians 6:13. We are to take unto us the “whole” armour of God. Our armour is our trust in God as we clothe ourselves by:
- Having our loins girt about with truth.
- Having on the breastplate of righteousness.
- Having our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
- Taking the shield of faith to be able to quench all the fiery darts pointed at us from wicked Satan.
- Taking up the helmet of salvation.
- Taking up the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God.
- Praying with other Believers in the Spirit.
If we are diligent to keep ourselves clothe with the “whole armour of God” we will be able to live a victorious life in Christ Jesus. We can’t fight Satan in the flesh, we must be in the Spirit to defeat him. People are not our enemy. The culprit is Satan. So, we must stay clothe in the amour of God daily and pray without ceasing!
One day soon, Jesus will bind the “strong man” (who is Satan) and destroy his demons and followers (Matthew 12:29), then evil will be destroyed forever. Friends, I encourage you to fight the good fight of faith knowing that Father God goes before you and will be with you as you trust in Him.
