God’s Testament – God’s Will

Did you know the Bible was written as God’s “Testament or Will?”
(Definition of Testament:  a person’s will, especially the part relating to personal property; or something that serves as a sign or evidence of a specified fact, event, or quality.)

Many years ago I was very surprised to learn this very important piece of information about the Bible, but once I did, my entire walk with the Lord change.  After learning this valuable information, I begin studying the Word to learn of God’s Will for my life.

A “Last Will and Testament,” as we call it, is a document written by an individual before they die. This written document leaves instructions to loved ones, or benefactors, his/her desires in written form regarding their estate and how to distribute it; also known as an inheritance left to an individual(s).  Well this is what the Bible is about – Father God’s “Testament or Will” for His children, which is our inheritance and His desire for our lives.

Who are God’s children? “Born-Again Believers.”  The Bible says “whosoever” shall call upon the name of the Lord Jesus, and believes in their heart Who Jesus is and what He did at the Cross, and that He now sits at the Right hand of Father God is a Born-Again Believer.  All Born-Again Believers should know intimately their inheritance.

(For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 KJV.)

Did you also know the Bible was written over a span of 1500 years, with 400 years of silence from God after the Book of Malachi to the Book of Matthew?  The Bible is divided into two sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament, with a total of 66 Books.  The entire Bible is written of God’s will in sending a Savior to redeem mankind back to Him.  Genesis through Malachi (39 Books) reveals Gods unconditional love and plan of Messiah coming to earth; whereas Matthew through Revelation (27 Books) reveals the birth and arrival of Messiah, Jesus Christ!

As one studies the Bible, we will learn of events and specific facts that points to the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Savior to all that call upon His name.  John 3:16-18 gives the reader recorded evidence from God Himself of this historical information:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.   For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Furthermore, did you know the Bible is still the best selling book in the world, yet many still do not know God’s Will.  Studying the Word of God on a regular basis gives one a deeper understanding and knowledge of who God is and His character.  This is called investing in a meaningful relationship.  The Bible reveals to those that Believe their inheritance.  An inheritance we can benefit from now, in the future and well into eternal life.  The Bible reveals to us history past, present, and future.  Friends, the Bible is God’s “love story” to the world of His creation, man’s fall, living an abundant life on earth and redemption of man.
