Choosing The Right Foundation

The cosmetic industry is a big money making industry which promotes images of flawless models, that women of all ages, strive to become. Women spend millions of dollars yearly for beauty products that will hopefully give them a younger look.Β  They believe the manufacturer’s foundations, concealers and body creams will give them the “perfect” image which will hide their spots and blemishes and even out their skin tone. The goal is to have a “flawless” look. Needless to say, we women are particular and want the perfect foundation or concealers for our skin tone, otherwise, we believe our face won’t have that “flawless” look. As a Mary Kay Consultant, I know all too well the importance we women put on having the right products, we will hunt, peck and search out for the perfect products that matches our skin tone and eliminates our spots and blemishes to improve our self-esteem.Β  Unfortunately, we are placing our hope falsely by being more concerned with our outward foundation and forgetting the main foundation of our inner man.Β  With so much confusion and evil abounding in this world (in every country) many people are looking for some sort of hope that will bring stability into their lives and country.

So, today I would like for us to think about a foundation that promotes beauty from the inside out and it’s a “perfect foundation!” It’s a “flawless solid foundation!” This foundation applies for both men and women. This foundation promotes inner peace, joy and contentment from the inside out. This foundation is Jesus! Jesus shares with us in Luke 6:47-49 (KJV) what happens when we place our hope falsely on the wrong foundation:

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:Β Β  He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.” (Luke 6:47-49)

When we β€œbuild our house” (our body/soul) on anything other than Jesus we are setting ourselves up for failure.Β  Beauty fades but Jesus is always!Β  Materialism fades away, but Jesus remains! Anything we choose to cling to, other than Jesus, will fade away, but Jesus is everlasting to everlasting – He will always be a “sure and perfect” foundation.Β  Our outward flaws and blemishes are meaningless, it is our inner man, our soul that needs a makeover that can only be done through the sanctifying blood of Jesus.Β  His blood is red, but will match every skin tone and soul of those who trust and believe in Him. Jesus offers a secure foundation which no man made foundation can offer.Β  Anyone trying to live life apart from Jesus and what He accomplished at the Cross will never know genuine peace and contentment. Jesus is the hope every heart and soul longs for.

I have been ministering with a woman for several years who is lonely and has tried everything possible in life to fill the void of loneliness.Β  She would shop until she dropped, had new hair do’s, traveled, became involved with many activities, yet she continued to feel lonely. I shared the above scripture with her explaining to her what happens when we build our hope on anything or anyone other than Jesus. Building on a things is a false foundation which will never fill anyone’s lonely heart.Β  Week after week she continued in the same state of loneliness and hopelessness building on sinking sand. Four months ago she called me and excitedly confessed that she now serves the God I serve.Β  Finally, Praise God, she is now building on the “solid foundation” of Jesus.Β  Why did it take her so long to choose the right foundation?Β  The devil kept lying to her that God would never forgive her!Β  Excitedly, she shared that, “Jesus never gave up on me!” During one of her lonely nights she said “I got out my Bible and begin reading the Book of John!” Well you guessed what happened! The truth of God’s Word touched her heart and she gave her heart to Jesus!Β  What an awesome God we serve!Β  While reading the Book of John Holy Spirit revealed to her the true path to salvation and how He only can fill the void in her heart.Β  Praise God! What a testimony!

My friend came to learn and experience 2 Timothy 2:19 KJV “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

Are you struggling with loneliness or depression.Β  Bring it to the Lord and surrender that pain to Him and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life. Build your hour on the solid, perfect foundation of Jesus. Today, I challenge you to read the entire Book of John as my friend did and allow Holy Spirit to take you on a journey of truth!
