Characters of the Bible: “Eve”

Today’s topic is about Eve, the first woman created by God.  Eve was married to Adam and they both were created in the image of their Father God.  After creating them, He then blessed them and put them in the Garden of Eden, in which they shared a wonderful home in the Garden of Eden, better known as Paradise.

Adam and Eves’ home was void of worldly corruption and evil.  She and Adam had all that pertained to joy and happiness because Father God had blessed them and gave them a unique and wonderful gift – Earth.  They were instructed to subdue (control) the Earth and Father God also, gave them dominion (authority) over all the beasts He created and last but not least, they were given the job of maintaining the Garden of Eden.  What a wonderful life!

But, that wasn’t all they had!  They had the honor of personally communing with Father God every day!  Take a moment and imagine yourself meeting with Father God every day!  Father God met with them daily to talk with them, He even taught Adam how to name the animals and how to manage the Garden of Eden.  Eve’s role was to be a “help meet” for Adam in managing the Garden as instructed by God that pertained to subduing the Earth and having dominion over all the beasts.

In the Garden were two trees, “the tree of life” and “the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”   When Father God was teaching Adam on managing the Garden of Eden, He gave Adam one very important instruction about managing the Garden and Adam was to share this information to Eve.  The instruction was as follows: “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:16-17)

Eve lived happily in the Garden with husband Adam, until one day a sneaky enemy of Father God came into the Garden and tempted Eve.  The enemy, the sneaky serpent, known as the devil, convinced Eve that Father God had lied to her about dying.  He also had her convinced her that Father God was keeping something good from her.   Eve had a choice to make, there were two trees in the midst of the garden, “the tree of life,” which represented Jesus, which was life and all that pertained to happiness, truth and life eternal; or choice “the tree of knowledge of good and evil,” which represented the world and its evil along with death.  Unfortunately, Eve believed the sneaky serpent and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, which brought death (spiritual death), and they lost their home in Paradise – the Garden of Eden.

Now before we start pointing fingers at Eve and calling her names, what choices have you made lately that brought death into your situations, such as your finance or your relationship with God.  Yes, Eve chose wrong by choosing the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but Father God in His mercy had a plan ready.  A plan to redeem not only Adam and Eve, but ALL mankind back to Himself and that plan was His Son Jesus to die on the cross for all mankind’s sins.  All we have to do is believe in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross and accept Him as our Lord and Savior and we are welcomed back into the family of Father God.

Yes, we have made bad choices just like Eve, but God is waiting to forgive us and to welcome us back.  Make the choice today to forsake this world’s evil and all that it has to offer and accept the “gift” of God – His Son Jesus!  He loved you so much He gave His life for you!  Don’t delay, believe today.

What Must I Do To Be Saved?   Believe in Jesus and pray the “sinner’s prayer” (Romans 10:9-10):  Dear Jesus, I come to you today as a lost sinner.  I am asking that you save my soul and cleanse me from all sin.  I know that I need help and that I can’t save myself.

I believe that you are the Son of God.  Forgive me for my sins and all wrong doings I have done to others and help me to forgive those who have hurt me.  I believe that you died on the Cross for my sins and the sins of the world.  I accept You, Jesus, into my heart as my Lord and Savior.

I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus, as my Savior and believe in my heart that God has raised Him from the dead and You are now seated in Heaven.
