A Doer or Hearer

But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22-×5)

As we journey through the Bible we learn timeless truths such as there are two categories of Believers: The Doers and the Hearers.

The Doers hear the Word and knowing that the Word of God is crucial for their growth and maturity take steps to apply the word in their personal lives. The Word has taken “root” in their heart!

Th Doers trust the Word to transform them from the old man to the new man in Christ. They quickly learn the Word has supernatural power to strengthen them during times of adversary..

Before I learned the power of the Word, I was a worrier and double-minded with my decision-making. I would pray to Father God for help during my challenging years, then doubt He would answer my prayers. My life was one of constant defeat until I learned to build my house on the Rock of Jesus.

The Hearers hear the word and quickly forget how to apply the Word for personal growth. This man doesn’t put the Word into practice. Jesus calls him a foolish man who builds his house on the sand. When the rain and winds come, his house will be greatly destroyed because his house is unstable, build on the sand of this world.

However, Jesus says the Doer of the Word is like a wise man who built his house on the Rock. The wise man has a sure house (his soul), which is built on the Rock (Jesus). He practices the Word and when trials of life come his way he is able to walk through those trials victoriously, because he knows who fights his battles.

All Believers need to make sure their house is firmly built on the Rock and when the trials of life come they will stand victoriously.
