All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ. (Ephesians 4:31-32 HCSB)
From what the apostle Paul wrote in the above scriptures, the mark of a genuine Believer is LOVE. In other words, a Believer is to be different than the world’s influences.

Although it has been recorded that 80% of the people in U.S.A. confess to be Christians, their actions speak otherwise. The influences of the world is that of “get even mentality,” producing angry, slander, hate, unforgiveness, and bitterness to name a few.
Genuine Believers let their light shine brightly. They bring honor to God through their lifestyle of being loving and forgiving to all. They don’t hold grudges. They are compassionate, especially toward the less fortunate.
Genuine Believers shun evil and practice godly principles, which glorifies their heavenly Father. Genuine Believers do not accept “evil as being good and good as being evil.” They embrace true justice and live theirs lives according to the truths found in the Word of God. A genuine Believer loves as Christ loves and forgives as Christ forgives.
To be a genuine Believer is to forsake the ways and beliefs of this world system. A genuine Believer knows this world is not their home and that their will is to do Father God’s will, which is a lifestyle of loving others as self and being holy.
We that call ourselves Believers should examine ourselves. Are we living a lifestyle that pleases our heavenly Father? Do we have the true mark of a Believer, which is LOVE and FORGIVENESS?
Principles:
- Love others as Christ loves us.
- Forgive others as Christ has forgiven us.
- Examine ourselves that we are in the faith and not sinning.
- Put off all works of evil.
