Women of The Bible: A Life Transformed

Are you suffering in your mind with hurts from your past?  Do you have negative thoughts that keep you from having healthy relationships? Are your negative thoughts keeping you from drawing near to God to seek His comfort and help?

The Bible tells us of a women, named Mary Magdalene, who experienced the questions I listed above.  She found comfort and help from tormenting demons and her life was transformed.  Read her story below and if you are suffering from a past that left you with a negative thought life, there is help for you! Trust in the healer that set her free!

Mary Magdalene was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.  Although very little was written about Mary accept that, she lived in the town of Magdala, she was the leader of a group of women who followed Jesus throughout the end of His earthly ministry, and she was given the first “apostolic” commission to tell the others “HE IS RISEN!”

Aside from Mary’s position in her community, Holy Spirit reveals to us four important details about Mary:  1) Jesus set her free from seven devils; 2) she was a devoted follower of Jesus; 3) she was at Jesus’ crucifixion; and 4) she was the first to see Jesus when He arose from the grave (John 20:17).

Holy Spirit doesn’t tell us the kinds of devils tormenting Mary, but He does tell us that her life was transformed when Jesus set her free from those devils.  Can you imagine being set free from tormenting devils?  Freedom!  No more torturing thoughts! Free, free at last is what Mary felt.  What a wonderful gift to have peace of mind and joy!  She was a new woman!

Another reason I believe Holy Spirit doesn’t tell the reader much about Mary Magdalene is because He didn’t want to put attention on her past, because the past is just that “the past.”   What Holy Spirit wanted to reveal to the reader is that a life touched by Jesus brings about change.  Mary’s transformed life gave her hope!   She came to know the peace Jesus’ forgiveness brings and the power of His healing that set her free!  Freedom is a gift from Jesus that anyone bound by sin is hoping for; they want to live a life free from the torment of hurts and sins from the past. An encounter with Jesus has a powerful effect on individuals that trust Him for deliverance from a tormenting past that left their mind with tormenting thoughts.  I know this to be true because He set me free from a past that left me with many tormenting thoughts in my mind. There was a battle raging in my mind!

Due to her transformed life, Mary became a devoted follower of Jesus. At every opportunity Mary sat at His feet learning about the kingdom of God, listening to the message of the Good News and eternal life — which can be found only in Jesus Christ!  Mary found the Messiah!  Are you bound by a bad habit or sin that has you feeling guilty and ashamed?  Are you suffering from mental or physical infirmities? Where you abused in your past that left you wounded in your soul?  Seek Jesus’ help!  Let the Messiah set you free from anything that is troubling you or keeping you bound.  He can transform your life just as He transformed Mary Magdalene. Jesus set her free and that’s the main message for everyone – freedom and transformation from a past that is keeping you a prisoner in your mind!

Historians would have the world to believe that Jesus didn’t converse with women; but that is far from the truth! Jesus was very much concerned about women then, just as He is now. Holy Spirit gives many accounts of Jesus conversing with women and healing them from various demons and diseases.  Galatians 3:28 tells us “there is neither male or female but we are all “one” in Jesus Christ.”  I encourage you to today to do as the songwriter sings: “Go tell it to Jesus, tell Him all of your problems; give your problems to Jesus, and He will set you free.”  Let Jesus transform your life today and let Him become your main priority as you draw near to Him.  Bring your pain from the past to Him for the freedom that Jesus died for you and me and anyone willing to trust Him for spiritual transformation.
