(Devotion 5) Where Is Your Hope?

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” (Psalms 42:11 KJV)

Listening to the daily news or reading the daily newspaper can leave us with a grim outlook on life;  and all this bad news can make our souls hurt with pain or depression.   Many are looking for world leaders at every level to change the headlines to read “all is well.”  Unfortunately, world leaders can’t guarantee peace or change the world to accommodate anyone with peace of mind.  If they could the generations before us would have been a good testimony that we can place our hope for safety and peace with all world leaders.  Please note I am not against world leaders at any level.  The point I would like to make here is that we are putting too much confidence in individuals who have already proven they can’t change the world.

With turmoil all around us there is someone we can put our trust in who can carry us through the worst of situations, who is Almighty God!  He is the hope we need for peace of mind!  He is the hope we need during this pandemic we are now in!   The Bible says we will never have peace on earth, but we can have peace of mind while living here.  As we place our trust in Almighty God we can rest assured that He still controls the affairs of men.

Friends, the Bible forewarns us with detailed descriptions of what will happen on earth, and we are experiencing much of it now.  We need to put our trust in God to see us through all the evil transpiring in this world.  As we keep our mind stayed on the LORD, He will keep our minds in perfect peace. Please pray for our world leaders to turn their hearts to God! Pray for our young people to be separated from the influences of this world system. Now let’s all send praise to Almighty God for His keeping power in our lives.
