Learn To Wait Patiently

“I waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.” (Psalm 40:1-3)

Everywhere you look people are in a hurry!  People are constantly rushing here and there, but never seeming to accomplish much. This fast-pace society is so well accepted that it has been nonchalantly entitled the “microwave generation.”  We have been programmed to want what we want now.  No waiting, no planning—just buy it now!  Just do it now!  Leaving us with a buy now, pay later attitude!

Unfortunately, some Christians have allowed this “have it now” attitude to interfere with their relationship with God.  Christians pray to God with their petitions and needs, and then expect Him to respond or answer immediately.  When an immediate response doesn’t happen, then they become doubtful believing that God doesn’t care about them or their loved ones.  They also become angry and impatient.  Do you know great rewards await those who have learned to be patient?

Psalm 40:1-3 details rewards one receives for “waiting patiently.”  A treasury of hope, eternal salvation, deliverance and joy unspeakable.  These are the rewards the devil doesn’t want us to know about, so he keeps us busy in a fast-paced lifestyle anxious about nothing.

God hears us and He can easily bless us with materialistic things; but God’s primary goal is for His children to learn how to have a priceless and valuable relationship with Him.  A relationship that will make us stronger for the long-term and prepare us for the future (eternal life).

As we wait on God, we will learn that a fast-paced life offered by the devil is fruitless, leaving us empty and unhappy.  But as we wait patiently on the Lord, we will begin to understand the realization of:

What it means to have contentment, such as being happy with what God has already blessed us with and where He has placed us.

What it means to live a life of forgiveness, not holding bitterness toward anyone, but rather forgiving one another and being at peace with one another.

What it means to live life victoriously, trusting and believing all things are possible with God.

The joy of Witnessing to others.  As welet our light shine before me, we begin to plant seeds for God’s kingdom.

No matter what our current or past situation, we don’t have to accept the attitudes of “this world.”  When we apply God’s principles into our lives, we will soon discover that God was already at work behind the scenes setting up the right conditions and positioning people that will be needed to accomplish what He has planned for us!  He’s just waiting for us to be patient!  Then at the right moment, in God’s timing, He is going to deliver each of us from our trials and establish our goings.  These victories will leave us excited and blessed with a “new testimony.”  A testimony we will want to share.  A testimony that when others hear, will want what we have – Jesus.  Others will want to know the “Rock” of deliverance that has transformed your live through Christ Jesus.  Ask God to teach you to wait patiently on Him.  There are great rewards when you do!
