Being a Christian is difficult Linda told her Pastor! The Pastor asked Linda the reason for making that statement. Well, to start, she said, “Christians don’t have fun!” Plus, Christians have to follow too many “rules of do’s and don’ts!” When we don’t know the truth about being a Christian, we become deceived, the Pastor said.
The Pastor explained to Linda that Jesus doesn’t save us to give us rules! The Bible, however, tells us something very different! Jesus wants to save us so that we can be set free from manmade rules of do’s and don’t and from a life of destruction. Linda confessed that she struggled to understand the Bible, so she wasn’t aware of that.
The Pastor explained to Linda that there are two very different lifestyles that a person can choose from: the world’s deception or God’s truth.
A Christian’s life is not full of do’s and don’ts. Rather, it’s a life that chooses to forsake the lifestyle of this world’s system and embrace their new life in Christ. A lifestyle that teaches how to love and how to have healthy relationships. This all begins when we become intentional about:
*Learning Father God’s love.
*Learning how to love ourselves and others.
*Allowing our mind to be renewed with truth from the Bible.

Focusing on rules- dos and dont’s- can lead to an artificial spirituality. A person can comply with rules but not have their heart in it. Jesus wants a relationship with us.
