Graduation Day

Time surely flies when not expected, were my thoughts as I sat at my grandson’s graduation.

Sitting on the school bleachers, with the cold rain drenching us all as we watched the graduation ceremony, my mind drifted down memory lane with precious thoughts of my grandson’s growing years.  It seemed as yesterday when he made his entrance into this world. I watched close and from afar as he navigated from birth unto this day. My grandson didn’t let challenges stop him, he took on each one with determination,  persevering to finish what he started.

Grandson’s Graduaton

Also, with his  adventurous spirit, he learned to be fearless by attempting new things, and refusing to allow the difficulty of things in life to stop him.  My grandson has grown from season-to-season making his parents proud of the young man he has transitioned to become. All his years of training at home, church and school have brought him to this day of graduating into the adult world.  He is running the race of life in the natural, which began at birth and is now being honored for finishing the race strong in this season of his life.

This graduation and my trip down memory lane bought to mind of a future graduation that Believers will attend. First Corinthians 9:25-27 (NIV) came to mind. “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

Believers are challenged to run the race of life on earth as Ambassadors for the Kingdom of God. As they crucify their flesh abandoning the distractions of this world to witness to others the Good News of the Gospel, they are storing up rewards in Heaven.
Believer’s one day will  graduate from this life into the next life and stand before the LORD to be honored for what they did for the Kingdom of God as His Stewards and Ambassadors.  What a magnificent day that will be to stand before God being honored for our faithfulness. Friends, don’t get discouraged with what you see or hear, run this race with Faith focused on the grand prize of hearing the words “well done my faithful servant!”
